Even though I am not a man, I enjoyed the article. I agree it is all very personal, I have also looked into color seasons which was interesting but not a perfect fit either. Harmony is calming to look at but I would say that the style also reflects the character and then maybe being less harmonious would suit someone better... I also do not agree on summer making you more contrasted. Most people would get less contrasted with slightly lighter hair and darker skin... Just some thoughts :)

Thanks Julia, glad you enjoyed it. Most of these lessons can be applied to women just as readily as they can to men, since they're picking up on core principles that don't have to do with the specifics of male/female dress (ex: a neckerchief or scarf could easily replace a tie)

On the contrast point, it's quite counterintuitive, but it all comes down to where contrast is actually perceived. A good portion of facial contrast is read around the eyes, not just from hair versus skin. In summer, your skin darkens, but the whites of your eyes stay bright, the iris stays the same depth, and your brows and lashes don’t change. That makes the eye area stand out more, not less. Your hair may lighten slightly, but it usually doesn’t offset the stronger definition around the eyes.

For many people, the result is a face that reads as more defined and higher-contrast overall, which is why stronger colors often work better once someone is tanned!

Curious to learn about shirt collar choices. The spread collar has had a near tyrannical hold on my wardrobe for a long time and been wanting to branch out

Love this!

Pro-tip: second hand shopping is a great way to figure out what works for your body and what doesn't. There's lots of variety so you can try lots of different things on, and you can commit to buying something that doesn't end up working out without feeling too stressed about money.

The same problem happens with writing. Only thinking about scale is the modern disease of the intellect.

The impoverishment of life that is felt everywhere, maybe it's too simplistic, but I don't think so, to attribute it to discarded intimacy.
